The Law


  • Type of Policy:  The McKinney-Vento Act is a distributive policy that was formed to address the needs of homeless students in America.  The costs of this policy are shared by all tax payers. 

  • _Current Status: H.R. 5417 was signed into law on October 30, 2000.  It was amended most recently in 2001 as part of the No Child Left Behind Act known as the McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Improvements Act of 2001.
